#ibmcsc China 30
Today is the day we have been talking about over the last 3 months in all the team calls...the first get-together! Everyone has arrived and most of us met today in the hotel bar...and it was wonderful! 3 of the team members are still on the way to the hotel from the airport and they will definitely need some rest...so will catch up with them tomorrow...
My journey was a bit tiring but uneventful. The most difficult part was the 8 hour layover at the Bangkok airport. However, I tried to explore the airport and walked quite a bit, at least 3-4 kms and found a lot of things to see at the airport itself. One of the interesting things was the depiction of 'Sagar Manthan' or the 'Churning of the Sea' at one of the concourses (pics below). We have read about this in our mythological books and I found this display very beautiful.
The flight from Bangkok to Xi'an was full of Chinese tourists returning home with almost everyone having purchased high end branded goods from the Duty Free shops at the Bangkok Airport. Lisa (our interpreter) explained that some of these brands are very expensive in China and maybe that's why people prefer getting it from outside.
Now, time for some rest and all the team members plan to meet tomorrow morning at breakfast..
