I started this blog a bit late but as they say 'Better Late than Never'. However, I have a lot of catching up to do and my next few posts will be more of what has happened so far on my CSC journey.
The prep-work for my CSC assignment began on 21st May when we received a welcome note from our CSC Alumni Facilitator Bart. Bart was part of the China 22 team that visited Xi'an in 2013. He has been of great help during these preparation sessions and is fun to talk to. I wish he was part of our China 30 team :) You can read his blog here.
We also received the details of the team members of the China 30 team and the team looks amazing. We are 10 team members spread across the world. India, US, Australia, Brazil, Sweden, Denmark and Slovenia! I can't wait to meet all of them in Xi'an. I have never worked in a team as diverse as this and it will be interesting to see how I manage...though after having a few calls with all of them over the last few weeks, I am comfortable that I will be OK. All of them are extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. The team is also a good mix of professional background. We have people from HR, Marketing, Consulting, Development, Delivery, Sales and Project Management. I guess all of those experiences will be useful at some point during the assignment.
Our first team call happened on 29th May and we got introduced to each other and the NGO partner who we will be working with for this assignment. Our NGO partner is Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) who will be the link between us and the clients. VSO will also look after the logistics and will help us during our in-country work between 14th August and 12th September.
We also got introduced to the IBM Citizenship Manager Jasmine (Wei Na) Liang who will be our point of contact in China. She will also help us get the invite letters from IBM China to get the Visa processed.
The first call was very informative and helpful...I think we are in good hands and should not have any challenges during the project....apart from the actual projects I mean :D
We still need to prepare a lot before we leave for China so that we can hit the ground running....
More coming up in my next post...
